Food is medicine

Promoting Food is Medicine reserach, movement and models among European healthcare professionals.

Leading the European chapter

HarvestCare is uniquely positioned to support the scaling of Food is Medicine in Europe. We are among the first organisations in Europe applying the implementation and research methodologies behind Produce Prescription programmes (also referred to as Food Pharmacy models). These approaches have been developed and tested in the United States over the past decade and are supported by a substantial and growing evidence base.

We collaborate directly with pioneers in the field and actively exchange learnings with other Produce Prescription programmes worldwide. This helps us apply proven practices while adapting programme design, delivery, and measurement to European healthcare systems and policy contexts.

Our work focuses on translation and dissemination: bringing evidence, models, and evaluation approaches into the European context, and building capacity through webinars, conferences, and training for healthcare professionals and system partners.

Zuzanna, HarvestCare’s co-founder, participated in the Food is Medicine Global Convening at Bellagio, hosted by the Rockefeller Foundation in 2025, where the Food is Medicine Global Alliance was initiated. She also serves on the advisory board of IMPACT-FIM, an Individual Participant Data Meta-Analysis on Food is Medicine for prevention and cardiometabolic treatment, funded by the European Heart Association.
