Agri-health outcome payment model
Building a financial case for regenerative healthcare
Project Summary
The Agri-Health Outcome Payment Model (AHOP Model) is a Dutch-based consortium initiative that bridges the health and agricultural sectors to address chronic diseases like type 2 diabetes while creating new markets for organic/regenerative farmers. By leveraging healthcare incentives such as Food Pharmacy, AHOPM aims to implement food prescription programs where nutrient-rich, organic produce is prescribed as part of medical treatment. This project targets systemic change by linking health outcomes to sustainable farming practices, demonstrating food-as-medicine interventions' medical and economic value.
Project Aim
Develop a scalable and sustainable financial model for food prescriptions, validated through clinical trials and cost-benefit analyses.
Prove the medical impact of nutrient-dense, organic produce on managing chronic diseases (type 2 diabetes).
Stimulate the creation of a market for organic farmers by integrating them into the healthcare value chain.
Facilitate systemic innovation in healthcare, shifting from symptom management to addressing root causes of chronic diseases.
